We have reached hairy levels of quarantine. The beards are coming out.
People have been doing all sorts of silly things while contemplating their existence at home amid the C0VID-19 community quarantine. From making TikTok videos to separating the grains of 3-in-1 coffee or counting the times the ceiling fan rotates per minute, extreme boredom seems to have taken the community by storm.
But there is a new trend that is making significant rounds on social media: No-Shave Lockdown. It’s not exactly a trend that people are doing out of boredom. They are simply not shaving because they are at home.
No Shave Lockdown takes its name from No Shave November, which is a legitimate movement for a cause. The only difference is that the former is not done for any cause, but born out of the laziness to do the hygienic practice of mowing down facial hair.
Just like Kapamilya actor Gerald Anderson.
Recently, Gerald shared his photo on his social media account showing his unshaven looks.
“Still locked in during lockdown”
He stated in his photo caption showing his long beard, he is wearing a yellow shirt and looks sweaty.
The act of beard growing may come across as laziness, but it could instead be interpreted as a way to regain control over one thing (one’s own face) amid national uneasiness.
Gerald’s photo elicits mixed reactions from netizens.
Here are some:
“Doesn’t suit him. Tska may white hair na rin balbas niya ha.”
“Mas mukha pa siyang matanda dun sa mga 90’s na heart rob noon.”
“Mukha siyang pangkontrabida. “
“Bakit me White hair na ito? Ilang taon na ba ito?”
Facial hair in men can be attractive when well-groomed, but don’t allow it to get out of control.
Do you like Gerald’s unshaven looks?
